With practice to success: Tolga Kilic at Böllinghaus Steel
Tolga Kilic, 21, is studying International Business at FHDW Mettmann and decided to pursue a dual study program at Böllinghaus Steel. He first came into contact with the company through its partnership with the university during Campus Day in 2023. After a year at Böllinghaus Steel, we asked him about his dual study program and experiences so far:
Theory and practice combined in everyday work
The combination of theory and practice gives you the opportunity to apply the knowledge you have learned in your studies directly in your everyday work and thus establish a direct link to practice. “The dual study program gives me valuable insights and allows me to try out what I have learned immediately in the working world,” says Tolga. This practical application not only gives him deeper insights into the working world, but also allows him to continuously expand and improve his knowledge.
Böllinghaus Steel as an international environment
At Böllinghaus Steel, he not only has the opportunity to apply his academic knowledge, but also to develop himself further in an international environment. In sales in particular, he can live out his passion for communicating with people from different cultures and countries. Direct contact with customers and understanding their needs make sales a particularly exciting and attractive job for him.
During a plant visit in Portugal, Tolga had the opportunity to learn about Böllinghaus Steel's production processes and working methods on site. The visit enabled him to experience the company's international network and gain direct insights into the cooperation between the various locations.
Opportunities for initiative and development
The dual study program at Böllinghaus Steel not only offers Tolga the opportunity to apply his theoretical knowledge, but also the chance to get actively involved and take on responsibility. He particularly values the space the company gives him for initiative. Tolga is encouraged to contribute his own ideas and drive projects forward independently. The support he receives from experienced colleagues plays a crucial role in this. “Thanks to the valuable guidance and feedback from my colleagues, I am able to continuously improve, develop and become a good salesperson,” says Tolga. This combination of responsibility, initiative and mentoring promotes both his professional and personal development and motivates him to constantly pursue new goals in his career.
More than just training: opportunities for your future career
Overall, the dual study program at Böllinghaus Steel is more than just an academic education for Tolga. It is an opportunity to gain practical experience and lay the foundation for his professional future. The combination of theory and practice offered by Böllinghaus Steel enables him to develop valuable professional skills while getting to know the versatility and dynamism of the stainless steel industry.
