Böllinghaus Steel supports Hilden orchard meadow

In the fall of 2024, a new orchard meadow with 51 high-stemmed fruit trees - including old varieties of apple, pear, plum and cherry - was created on an area of around 15,000 m² in the south of Hilden. The aim of the project: an active contribution to climate protection and the promotion of biodiversity.

In the future, the trees will not only provide valuable, regional fruit, but also serve as a habitat for numerous animal and plant species, some of which are endangered. They also bind CO₂, promote soil quality and enrich the landscape. Part of the harvest is to be used in cooperation with the local community - for example, on joint harvest days or for processing into juices and jams.

Initiated by the Hilden City Council, implemented by NABU Hilden and the Wirtz family's agricultural business, the planting was made possible by numerous donations - we at Böllinghaus Steel also took part, sponsored two trees and hope to make a positive contribution to local environmental promotion in this way.
A stele on site provides information about the project and recognizes all donors via a QR code. In addition to maintenance by NABU and the Wirtz family, joint action days are planned every year.

A successful example of how local commitment, environmental awareness and corporate responsibility go hand in hand.
